CHAPEL PRAYER CULTURE
Our Prayer Ministry is the heart-beat of Chapel. We desire to be a praying people that fuel the spiritual renewal of our city.
Building a House of Prayer
As we, at Chapel ,develop a lifestyle of prayer, our church will become a house of prayer. Our
desire is to see our church family impact the Shoals and the world. This can only be accomplished by seeking God, His will, and His provision — first. As we grow and develop a culture of prayer, I believe we will see God begin to do amazing things through our worship experiences, ministries and people. We will see more people getting saved, set free, discipled, empowered and becoming disciple-makers!
Our three main prayer focuses as a church are for renewal, revival, and awakening.
Personal Awakening (Renewal): We want to see each and every believer awakened to the grace, love, holiness, and power of God. We want God to stir in us a passion for our first love. We are asking God to reignite our passion for Him, His church, and His mission. We want a fresh infilling of His Spirit. We need God to renew us before we move out to impact the world. We want God to start with us.
Corporate Awakening (Revival): We believe God wants to move in and through His church. Revival is a special season of mercy where God pours out His Spirit for sanctification of His saints and the salvation of the lost. We are asking God to revive Chapel so He can use us to impact lives in our community. We are asking for an increase of the gifts of the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit, and the wisdom of the Spirit. We are asking God to unite us in spirit and purpose.
Community Awakening (Awakening): We are praying that we can see Chapel impact the culture around us. We want to see the Shoals awakened to the Kingdom of God. We want them to see the Kingdom through power and love and hope. We are asking God to use us to reach the lost, broken, and hopeless with the gospel of Jesus.
We believe that passionate prayer is the primary means of advancing God’s Kingdom on the earth! Every Sunday we pray together as a family for our individual needs, church needs, and for other churches and pastors in our city. We also have time for everyone to receive prayer with our prayer team at the end of service at the altars. Also, every single Wednesday night we gather for one hour to worship and pray together for God to move in our church and our city. You can expect passionate worship, bold prayers, and prayer engagement for the entire family.

Prayer Is a Blessing
Prayer is not a burden, but a blessing. It is also one of the most important, rewarding and underutilized gifts that God has given us. Here are a few ways that we define prayer at Chapel:
Prayer Is Relational
Prayer enables you to encounter God and grow in your relationship with Him. It is about spending time talking with God and learning from Him who He is as your Father, Creator, Healer, Savior, Protector, Deliverer, Provider, Redeemer, King and God! It is about seeking Him, His ways and His will for your life.
Prayer Is Seeking God’s Presence
God is omni-present or always present. Every moment of every day He is with us. Most of the time, we are so preoccupied with other things that we are not aware of His presence. Prayer is when we make a deliberate choice to become less preoccupied with our lives, calendars and tasks, and become more preoccupied with God’s Presence.
Prayer Is Connecting with God’s Spirit
Prayer is one of the ways we connect with the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to love God and others. As the Spirit of God causes our love for God to overflow, the overflow enables us to genuinely love others. Prayer is the pathway by which we walk in the Spirit.
Prayer Is Partnering With God
In the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), Jesus tells us He wants to see God’s will done on earth just as it is in heaven. One of the ways God accomplishes His vision and will for earth is through the prayers and lives of His people, the Church. It is in prayer that we partner with God and align our lives and our church around His will, His Word and His Presence.
Prayer Is How We Impact the World for God
We pray to spend time with God, but also to seek His will and power to change our hearts, as well as the people and circumstances that impact our lives. There is great power in inviting God to bring His changes into our lives. James 5:16 says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Paul tells us that, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). As believers in Jesus, God has credited us with His righteousness, which empowers our prayers.
Prayer Is a Commitment
I want to challenge you to join your church family in taking this prayer journey. Make a commitment to attend a prayer meeting each week and to seek God daily through prayer. I believe the rewards you will reap for seeking God first will be exponential for you, your family, and our church. I love you. I believe in you. I know your potential in Jesus and I cannot wait to see what God does in and through you.
